Auction Dinner on 24th July 2014

Somerset CCC are now selling tickets for a fabulous evening, the Auction Dinner, which will be held at The County Ground in aid of the Somerset Pavilion Appeal on Thursday July 24th. The event will feature guest speaker Geoff Miller O.B.E., the former Derbyshire & England player and England Chairman of Selectors, and guest auctioneer Lord Archer.

The dress code is Black Tie.

This is not the first time these two men have supported Somerset with their efforts. I went to an event in the Long Room at Lords in 2005 to support Mike Burns’ Benefit season and Miller was hilarious and has since become one of the finest and most celebrated speakers on the dinner circuit.

Lord Archer, a life long Somerset fan, was also great value so I cannot recommend this evening enough.

And, of course, all proceeds go to making the County Ground an even better Cricket watching arena than it already is!

Chief Executive Guy Lavender said: ‘I am delighted that Geoff Miller and Lord Archer have agreed to help us with our fundraising efforts for the Somerset Pavilion. As a former international selector and player, there is little Geoff doesn’t know about the game. I have heard him speak on a number of occasions and he is enormously funny, knowledgeable and entertaining. Lord Archer has enjoyed a life long passion for Somerset County Cricket Club and we are most grateful for his support and attendance. This will be a fantastic evening and not to be missed so please do come along and book early to avoid disappointment!”

The event will begin with a drinks reception at 7pm which will be followed by a sumptuous 4 course dinner and a special auction that will feature a number of “money can’t buy” lots.
