Somerset left-arm spinner Jack Leach took five wickets for Taunton Deane this week, as they beat local rivals Taunton Cricket Club in a 20 overs a side Somerset Cup clash.
Playing at home, Deane batted first and piled up an imposing 205-4 in their 20 overs.
Jack, who top scored with 99 in last weekend’s fixture against Corsham only made 11 with the bat this time during the push for runs at the end of the innings.
But he more than made his mark with the ball, returning devastating figures of 4-1-18-5, his haul including Taunton Vale’s top scorer, opener Davenport, who was caught off Leach for 60.
He also took out Vale’s middle order, dismissing batsmen 5, 6, 7 and 9 in the batting order, two of whom were bowled, the others falling to catches.
Taunton ended their 20 overs on 174-8, a good effort, but 31 runs short of their target.
Jack will be hoping to push his way back into the Somerset side and performances like the ones he’s put in for Deane this past week with bat and ball will certainly help his cause.
