Cider Watch: Jamie plays explosive innings for North Devon

JamieDevon Cricket League Premier Division – Saturday 9 August 2014

Jamie Overton smashed 67 off just 52 balls for North Devon Cricket Club on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Heathcoat coming out on top by seven wickets.

Playing solely as a batsman, Overton came to the wicket with North Devon in real trouble at 50-5. He proceeded to dispatch the Heathcoat fielders for six fours and three sixes before he was bowled.

North Devon were eventually all out for 152 off 33.4 overs. The next highest score after Overton’s half century was just 14. Matt Hague took 4-27 in five overs, while Jason Parr returned figures of 5.4-0-15-3.

With opener Toby Lochead making an unbeaten 80, Heathcoat made short work of the run chase, reaching their target in just 23 overs.

North Devon and Heathcoat currently sit mid table in the Devon Cricket League Premier Division in fifth and sixth place respectively.

Adam Dibble’s club side Sidmouth currently top the league, while Max Waller’s side Torquay lie in eighth. Neither Adam nor Max were playing for their league clubs on Saturday.
