The Incider is three years-old-today!
The site was set up by Steve Jennings to offer Somerset supporters a platform to write about their club, the greatest Cricket Club on the planet! The small, but perfectly formed, group of writers have provided some thought provoking opinions and views that have created debates on social media and beyond.
The first article was published on 8th April 2014 and the site has enjoyed 33,487 unique visitors* since launch with 121,460 page views* accessed in 148 countries highlighting the amazing support for the county all around the world.
Not bad for a site that some said would last five minutes!
The Incider has enjoyed great support from Somerset CCC who have allowed access to the players upon request and we have also been invited to the Media Day before each season as well as other press opportunities, including when Matt Maynard was announced as new Director of Cricket in September 2014 and we were there last December when Tom Abell was unveiled as the new Championship captain. Thanks to Spencer, Sarah and Jez – in particular – for their ongoing support.
Thanks to this unique relationship we have been able to publish exclusive interviews with current players and club officials. The “He Wore The Wyvern” feature has also proved popular with viewers and offered some of our most read articles.
With the new season starting for Somerset next Friday against Essex at home, and expectations high for a successful season after last season’s near miss, we look forward to bringing more exclusive articles and chat and welcome you – the supporters – to send your opinions and views. Just email us:
Thanks also to Somerset County Sports who have supported us from day one and continue to do so, and to The Tricky Cider Company who have been welcome sponsors in the past. New sponsors would always be welcome.
Here’s to the new season where we can #DareToDream
