NatWest T20 Blast: the run-in starts tonight!

T20 BlastWe are now at what is commonly known as the ‘business end’ of proceedings in the NatWest T20 Blast. With lucrative cup ties awaiting the top four sides in each group and a day in the sun on final’s day for the four winners there is so much to play for.

In the South Group the top six is incredibly close but unbeaten Essex have been by far the outstanding team and have already qualified for the next stage leading the table by 4 points over second placed Hampshire. This made more impressive by the fact that Essex have only played 10 games and have another 8 points to play for. Hampshire have played 12 so can only muster another 4.

Somerset start their three must win games this evening away at Surrey and can still get a total of 17 points if there are three positive results. But even this feat would not guarantee qualification and Somerset will still need other results to go their way. It’s going to be a tall order for the cider men.
