Somerset have been selected for TV coverage as part of by Sky TV’s 2017 schedule and will initially feature in four games aired by the subscription broadcaster starting in nine days’ time when Surrey visit the Cooper Associates County Ground for a 50-over tie. There will also be three games in the Nat West T20 Blast too in July and August.
The confirmed dates are:
- Friday 28th April: Somerset v Surrey (11:00) RLODC Sky Sports 2 HD
- Saturday 15th July: Glamorgan v Somerset (19:00) NatWest T20 Blast Sky Sports
- Thursday 27th July: Kent Spitfires v Somerset (19:00) NatWest T20 Blast Sky Sports
- Saturday 12th August: Somerset v Kent Spitfires (16:00) NatWest T20 Blast Sky Sports
There may be more games confirmed as the season develops if Somerset are likely to progress beyond the qualifying rounds in the one-day tournaments. In 2016 the county endured a fairly torrid T20 campaign finishing bottom of the South Group, but did well in the Royal London One Day Cup progressing to the semi-final before losing to Warwickshire by just 8 runs.
Watching the game on telly will never be the same as being at the match itself – especially at Taunton when the sun shines and the ground is full to the brim – but for those unable to attend in person watching from the comfort of your own gaff or your local boozer is the next best thing.
