Somerset Seconds were frustrated by the weather in their two-day match against Devon Lions at Bovey Tracey earlier this week.
The game ended in a draw after no play was possible on the second day due to rain.
Somerset won the toss and chose to bat first and had reached 167-2 from the 41 overs possible on day one.
Max Waller and King’s College pupil Eddie Byrom opened the batting and enjoyed an opening stand of 40 before Byrom was dismissed for 6. James Regan joined Waller at the crease and another partnership was formed before the latter was caught Golding off the bowling of Miles for 59.
By the close of play on the first day both Regan (36*) and Davey (57*) were not out, providing them with useful batting practice should they be called into the first XI squad to take on New Zealand this weekend.
Somerset XI: Max Waller, Sam Wyatt-Haines, Tom Smith (MCC YCs), James Regan, Josh Davey, Eddie Byrom (King’s College), Adam Hose, Harry Thomas, Joe Gore, Ollie Sale and Nick Harrison (trialist).
Devon Lions XI: Mauwdsley, Sargent, Wolf, Huxtable*, Golding, Powell+, Petherbridge, Miles, King, Goodey, Lee, Kerton and Bess
