Surrey have signed all-rounder James Burke from Somerset on a two-year deal.
Devonian Burke, 23, has been playing regularly for Somerset’s Second XI as well as representing Devon in the Minor Counties tournaments and England at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 levels.
He played in three of Somerset’s NatWest T20 Blast fixtures this season, scoring four runs in his only innings but not being asked to bowl in any of them.
Somerset Chief Executive Guy Lavender said: “We are sorry to be losing James, but wish him well for the future with his new club.”
Surrey Director of Cricket Alec Stewart said: “James is a genuine all-rounder of great potential. We look forward to welcoming to him to the club.”
Burke will link up with his new county at the end of the current season subject to medical clearance.
