Taunton School’s U15s girls won the Somerset finals of the Lady Taverners cricket competition at the County Ground last Thursday (26 March).

They beat Broadoak School in the semi-finals, scoring 98 as they batted first, before restricting the opposition to 73-5.

Taunton then batted first in a close final against Millfield, scoring 96, including some excellent batting from Ellie-May Vohra, captain Bethan Collier and Amelia Davies.

In reply, Millfield could only reach 91 thanks to a stunning catch by Maddie Kimber and some fine bowling at the end of the innings by Hannah Eke and Meg Conabeare.

After the final, the winning team from Taunton School were photographed with Somerset captain Marcus Trescothick, who has recently joined the school as Cricket Development Coach.

Taunton now go on to the regional finals in Bristol on 22 April where they will compete for a place in the finals at Lord’s.
